Feb 9, 2022: Out of the frying pan...
And into a really really tranquil part of the mission in the middle of nowhere. That's right I got transferred. After 2 transfers and 6 companions in Caxias, I got transferred to the exact opposite end of the mission. Literally my area used to be bordered on the west with another mission and now it's bordered on the east. So that's fun haha. But I'm in another trio with Elder Munafu and Elder Calazans. One American and one Brazilian. I'm currently on my way to my area so I don't really know how it is yet... but I'll keep you updated!! Anyways this week was an absolute crazy wild week!! I don't even know where to start so I'll just go for it!!
EXCHANGE
I had my first exchange here in Brazil with Elder Briggs. It was really really fun, we just hit the roads together and street contacted. Through the rain and sun we were on the streets another 12 hours out of the 2 days. It was awesome. Also me and Elder Siqueira did a lot of street contacting too this week. But anways Elder Brggs is awesome, and we were actually transferred together, he's still in my district out here. But anyways that was 2 days of the week and was awesome!
BATISMO
This week we had the baptism of Kaiky and Lucas, 2 brothers that are the grandsons of the Relief Socety president! They are really awesome and I am so glad I had the chance to teach them!!! It was really a special moment in our lives and in theirs! T was really funny too, cause it was just supposed to be Lucas, and then one day we happened to find out that the records of Kaiky had been destroyed or ruined or lost or something. So we talked to bishop and we tried everything to find the records but we couldn't find them. Also everyone remembered the baptism but nobody remembered the confirmation... so yannow.... acts chapter 7 happened in modern times too haha.
CONCEÇÃO DE MACABÚ
So this is the name of my new area. It s about 7 hours away from the mission office. So that's pretty cool. :)
But it is filled with cows and horses and farms. In Caxias I never saw a tree. And the only horses I saw were snacking on trash in the middle of the road. Also I went from the smallest area in the mission to the biggest. Buckle up cause its going to be a wild transition.
Bonus story from transfers
We got our bus tickets at about 4:20. Our bus left at 5:20. The station is about 2p minutes by car away. Easy right??? Wrong. Cause we all had bags. Every Uber we tried to call canceled. Until finally one stayed. So we lifted the bags on our laps and still only fit half the stuff. So we went, and then half an hour later, the other Elders show up, 10 minutes after our bus left. So we ran up... and missed our bus still. But thankfully, there was another bus 2 hours after, and they had room. So it was a miracle but we arrived in Macaé (not my area but the closest city) at about 12:00, so we stayed the night at some elders. Spent pday there more or less, and now are in the car of a friend of the missionaries there with bags in every nook and cranny. So it's been an adventure already and it'll only get better!
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT!
My spiritual thought this week is about the brother of Jared. When he asked the Lord for something, the Lord turned it back on him to figure it out. And then helped him figure it out! I felt that way a lot this week. I would ask and then the Lord would let me choose anyways. It wasn't what I wanted exactly every time but I know it was what he wanted me to do, and we always figured it out!! I know He prepares a way for us!!
Love you All!!!
Elder Bradshaw!
My internet is absolutely trash out here so I'm going to pass on the pictures today. But I'll try and add some from this week next week!!
p.s. For those of you who wanted normative about me almost getting shot it wasn't actually that bad. We were in a favela and they wanted to know what we were doing there, so we had a gun pointed at us for a little but elder Siqueira explained why we were there and it all was good!! So that's the story hahaha.
