Apr 24, 2023: Scavenger Hunt 2.0

So there's a list of names and addresses of members in our ward. But this list is at least 5-10 years old. Our bishop was a bit worried about this, so we offered to help a little bit! And let's just say it's been probably the biggest scavenger Hunt of my life hahahaha.

With a little map and a ton of effort we've been able to find and teach many many inactive members. It has been really awesome not going to lie. We have lots and lots of desire to help these people return to activity in the church and help them continue along the covenant path! Anyway let's highlight some of the best moments!

EXCHANGESSS

This week I has the opportunity to stay with a brand new missionary Elder de Jesus! It was way fun haha. We actually got our phone stolen on that day too so that was an interesting story, but after that we just went out with paper and pencil and went finding. I helped him learn some new ways to contact and teach and it was a blast! We also went to see a family who had a baptism date last month and they said they still want to be baptized! So the elderes are gonna teach them and they will be baptized in May! It was funny cause we were leaving and then the little boy w/ 8 years ran behind us and informed us that he wanted me to baptize him so well see if we can make it work for him haha.

ENGLISH

I'm still teaching a massive English class of about 40-50 people and it's been a wild experience. I just go up there and try to teach the stuff I know to a ton of random people and help them understand. Usually after an hour of doing this my brain gets absolutely fried and I don't know what language I'm speaking anymore! I am really grateful for the opportunity i have to learn português, but coming back and speaking just English will be hard! Also we've had a few people from the class show interest in learning more and that's been awesome!

STAKE CONFERENCE

This week was stake conference and it was lit! We had some great speakers and lots of people visiting for the first time! It was really quite cool to see and to participate! We're hoping that these people who came will continue to progress until baptism!

SPIRITUAL THOUGHT

This week I've focused on showing kindness. There are some difficulties when there are annoying people in the streets, people who don't keep appointments and the like. But I have found as I take time just to choose kind I have been happier and more complete as a person. We don't need to return anger for anger or unkindness for unkindness. We can return charity or kindness for the anger and undkindness we see. And as we do that we will be happier.

Anyways I didn't take to many pictures this week so next week I'll take more and send them haha!
Love yall!!
