Sept 18, 2021: Almost There

Well I am close to a big landmark! That of course is NOT being done with week 4 of the MTC, OR having only 17 days before I fly to New Hampshire. The big landmark is, (drumroll).......... I am nearing 200 HOURS on zoom!!! But in all seriousness, it has been a great time being with my district and learning how to teach the gospel in Portuguese!

Brazil Fest!
Last P-day I had the opportunity to go to the Brazil Festival in Orem and it was awesome! I met some cool returned missionaries, a few other online MTC-ers and was even able to practice my Portuguese a little bit! Also the food was pretty darn delicious too.

Do I even speak English anymore?
The reason I ask is that last Sunday, I had the opportunity to go to 2 different wards, which was an amazing blessing, but it so happened that neither of the wards I attended were in English!! I was super blessed to be able to go see my cousins give a farewell talk in the ASL ward in Provo, and then almost immediately after that I was able to attend a Portuguese ward in Mapleton! It was a really cool experience for me with both of these different wards, and even with varying levels of understanding in both, I was able to feel blessed through the ordinance of the Sacrament.

My first "real" teaching practice
This week in our TRC (mock teaching practice) me and my companion had what I would consider our first authentic teaching practice. What happened was, about 5 minutes before our scheduled time to start with Matheus (our mock investigator/friend), he sent us a message telling us he wasn't going to make it, but we could teach one of his friends instead! So with about 5 minutes to prepare we had to completely switch our lesson plan, and make sure we knew the portuguese we needed for it. We were still able to bear testimony of the restoration and teach about prayer and how God answers us if we ask in faith! It was a hard lesson, but I was so glad for the experience it gave me.

Spiritual Thought
This week I was challenged by someone in my district to share my testimony on facebook in 6 words, and it really made me think. It helped me simplify my testimony in a way that I can share with everyone, no matter how much they know about the church, or about God, and I was thankful for that. I want to share it with you guys.

Christ is the Light and Life.
I know that Christ is the Light of the world. His gospel brings light to my life, and I know that I have been called of Him to share that gospel and light with the world. I know that we can all feel the light of Christ in our life, and we can receive the peace and joy that comes with it. Even if sometimes it is hard to see the light, it is always there. I know that with Christ in our life, the darkness will always be swept away.
I know that Christ is the Life of the world. I know that he suffered in Gethsemane, died, and was resurrected for each and every one of us. His ultimate sacrifice means that we can all live again, and I know that he of surety lives. I know that he loves us, and I am incredibly blessed with this opportunity to share my testimony with the people of New Hampshire and Rio de Janeiro.
I add my testimony to those of Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon, "And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of Him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of Him: That He lives!"
I know that it is true.

PS. I want to give a quick shoutout to all those who have taken the time to help me with Portuguese. I would not have been able to learn as well as I have without you guys. Special thanks to Christian Allen, Chloe Kokenes, and Rylan Wheeler, I really appreciate you!
