Feb 8, 2023: The SECOND worst flood of the mission
Hi everyone! I don't have a ton of time today, só basically you get to hear about the story of last night. We were arriving at the church to have English class, and it starts to rain a little bit. We shrug it off for a few minutes and get to the church. About 10 minutes later, we hear a large clap of thunder and it starts to absolutely pour. We didn't think to much of it at first, and We start to have a lesson with a fam that we're teaching. About 1 hour later it's still pouring and we start to get a bit worried, cause the streets are filling with water. All of a sudden we hear 4 large explosions, and the lights flicker. We end the lesson and head home after canceling English class, just to find that our power is out and the explosions were the transformer on our street blowing up. And to add to the situation, our roof starts go have a steady stream of water entering our bedroom. So completely without light, we put buckets down to catch the water and we head to the church to charge our phone. On the way we find a barricade of water, about to our knees and the streets are flowing with water. So we wade to the other side, get to the church and charge our phone a little until it calmed down. We then got back home, put our mattresses in the living room to avoid getting wet, and clean up the paint chips falling from the roof, and finally get to sleep. Thankfully today when we woke up, the Power Was back and we were able to clean everything up and put it back in order. But it was a wild night.
