Apr 20, 2022: 102.2° F

 No that wasn't the temperature outside this week, that was my temperature when I woke up on Monday morning with a raging fever, and this coming from the person who the last time I remember getting a temperature this high was in 9th grade haha. So that was a fun day. But priesthood is real and by Tuesday it had already run its course so that's good. :) 

Anyways howdy yall happy Wednesday! Also Happy Easter!!! Always always good to remember Christ's resurrection!! Also shout-out to my cousin Ryan who got his mission call this week, to !! I know he'll be a great missionary and a very awesome servant of the Lord!! 
Anyways onto the week...

Miracles at church!

This week I think we broke my record of having friends at church with 6! It was awesome with one married couple, a mother and daughter, and 2 kids who were brought by some members so that was way awesome! We are so blessed with how amazing the ward members are here haha. But it was just an awesome miracle that happened this week!

Apostolic Church

This week we got a chance to go to an apostolic church with some of our friends and watch a discourse there! It was really good, it was about autism and how we can all help our neighbors and friends, primarily by being more informed and secondly by just being a good neighbor and a good disciple of Christ, helping out where it's needed, donating time, effort, or resources where they're needed to help out. I thought it was a really good meeting and very very informative!!

Fever Pitch

So basically I woke up on Sunday and said, somethings not right. I thought about it a minute, moved around a bit and said, well I can't tell what it is, let's get going. We went to church, I gave a fire talk about Easter, (If you want me to send it to you hmu, but I might have to download a Portuguese to English text translator first haha) Anyways we went through our day like normal, made it to lunch and I started to think something isn't right here. Made it past lunch, started walking to our next appointment, made it there, started talking and I started feeling, something is really wrong. We get through the appointment and I say to my comp, we gotta go home, get home, check my temp, and it's 101.7! I'm like good grief, that's why I was so tired. But anyways after that we had another appointment so I take some ibuprofen to gear me up and head off to a 2 hr church meeting. So that was fun. And then I get home, the medicine hasn't helped at all, fall asleep, wake up the next day with 102.2, and I just kinda die. I think i slept close to 20 hrs that day, just could not get out of bed, but thankfully the medicine worked the next time, and my temperature fell a bit and just kept falling, and then I woke up on Tuesday and it was gone! So that was the biggest event of my week haha. Thanks to some help from God and modern medicine. 

Spiritual Thought

Anyway with that boring stuff out of the way here's to the good stuff, an insight into the meanderings of my mind when Im in the shower. Yesterday I was randomly thinking about how the Book of Mormon was written, how and why it's different than the Bible and one thing struck me. The Bible is written by prophets, but compiled and translated by man. There were so many chances for people to say, this doesn't seem quite right in my (mortal) eyes, here let me fix it real quick. And they change things. How do you think it'd be if a 10th century priest saw, "and I Nephi being exceedingly large in stature" or maybe Moroni saying, "I didn't really want to write anymore but here I am with a bit of extra time on my hands, so I'll write"
Would they think "oh surely Nephi wouldn't be egotistical in saying that" or "Moroni not wanting to write? I'd better change that a bit" (no I'm not saying I think Nephi is egotistical, I do think he's very blunt but Elder Holland is blunt and heaven knows I love the talks of that guy)
BUT ANYWAYS the point I'm trying to get at here (I did say the meanderings of my mind alright) THE BOOK OF MORMON PROPHETS (and the Bible, and also modern) ARE JUST PEOPLE TOO, AND WE NEED TO APPRECIATE EVERY SINGLE WORD THAT THEY SAY!!!
I know with certainty that there is something in every single part of the book of Mormon that can help you to grow and progress cause it's helped me. READ it, STUDY it, PONDER it, APPRECIATE it, and if you do, you will KNOW it. 

Anyways thanks to anyone who cares enough to have actually read this far hahaha, and I'm assuming that list doesn't extend to my brothers. 😉 haha but anyways I really do love you all alot and I can feel your prayers for me every day. Keep doing all that you're doing, and if you need me you know where you can find me.!!!.      .... or at least you know where you can email the, cause none of you guys probably know where the heck Conceição de Macabu is anyways.

  Hello friends and family happy Monday! I hope you're all doing super well. Sorry about not getting an email out last week, but I'll try to recapitulate what I missed. Also a fair warning that the emails might be a bit shorter than they have been but I promise to send a monster when I get home. May 8, 2023: Week of exchanges

  Hello my friends! How're you all doing??? Hope you're week cause I'm doing great here in Barreto, RJ! This week we had some great times and saw some awesome miracles that I want to talk about! So let's just get right into the email and talk! PDAY On the Mish whenever I can I like to do hikes for pday. 10/10 would recommend it has been awesome! Thus week we did one called pedra do elefante! And it was super awesome yall should take the time to do it EXCHANGE #1 My first exchange was with Elder Brito we spent 2 days getting on the grind together and it was fun! We found a ton of people, taught some great lessons and taught English class too! The most memorable moment was when we gave a lesson to a group of people about keeping the sabbath day holy! We had one friend of ours leave the room saying under his breath "this has to be the true church there's no other option" and it was really really cool. Apr 24, 2023: Scavenger Hunt 2.0

 So there's a list of names and addresses of members in our ward. But this list is at least 5-10 years old. Our bishop was a bit worried about this, so we offered to help a little bit! And let's just say it's been probably the biggest scavenger Hunt of my life hahahaha.  With a little map and a ton of effort we've been able to find and teach many many inactive members. It has been really awesome not going to lie. We have lots and lots of desire to help these people return to activity in the church and help them continue along the covenant path! Anyway let's highlight some of the best moments! EXCHANGESSS This week I has the opportunity to stay with a brand new missionary Elder de Jesus! It was way fun haha. We actually got our phone stolen on that day too so that was an interesting story, but after that we just went out with paper and pencil and went finding.
