Aug 3, 2022: I see so much potencial I don't even know what to do with it all.

 Hi everyone good morning! Hope you're all having a great week! I'll just hop right into the email today, cause this week was pretty great! 



MARICÁ

Holy cow I am so excited to be here in Marica in this exact time and place! There are so many things to do that we are probably going to drive ourselves crazy trying to do them all this transfer and I am super excited about that. I'll probably get to a majority of the missionary work part when I talk about the members, but about the city alone, marica is a great city. It is rather massive though I'm not going to lie. Our area is about 2h30 minutes on the bus one end to another and about 1h30 minutes on the bus from top to bottom so it is pretty dang large.... buttt the saving grace is that all the busses here are free! You've just got to know where to go to take the bus and we can travel our whole area to find teach and baptize from all parts of our area. :) There are also tons of beautiful spots to go to take pictures and stuff so yall will see that coming through these next few weeks.

ELDER VIEIRA

My comps name is Elder Vieira. He's pretty dang awesome and I'm super excited to work with him this transfer. I think we're gonna be able to hit the grind together and just keep working our butts off. He speaks 4 languages (English Portugese Japanese and French), and he's got 16 months on the mission, so a bit more than me. I'm excited to have a comp older than me on the Mish so I can keep learning how I can improve my teaching and everything. He's super calm haha so together we are very heavy on the thinking and planning which has gone very smoothly so far. I'm expecting to see a hecka ton of miracles this week!

MEMBERS

So this week I had the privilege of meeting a to of members! Holy cow I love the members Herr a lot! Here in maricá there's a branch... but it's a BIG branch. This last week we had more than 70 in attendance. And 7 non members, 6 of which were brought by members! There are lots of incomplete member families here so we're gonna work a lot on baptizing the members of the family who aren't members yet! It's going to be super great, and the craziest thing of all is that here really really soon, they're probably going to evaluate to make the Ward Maricá! I'm soooo excited to be here working right now to make this branch into a thriving ward! It's going to be fun!

Also another great thing about the members here is that we have lunch in person every day almost and it's greaaaaat.


SPIRITUAL THOUGHT
One thing that stuck out to me through my work was the importance of sympathy and empathy. In order to connect with people you need to recognize their needs and wants and likes and dislikes. The Savior was the perfect example in this. He knows each of us perfectly and he used that to help heal each person in the best way possible. We can also put in the effort to learn and to show love like Christ and when we are able to do that people see and people will act on that love that they were shown. So keep loving.

  Hello friends and family happy Monday! I hope you're all doing super well. Sorry about not getting an email out last week, but I'll try to recapitulate what I missed. Also a fair warning that the emails might be a bit shorter than they have been but I promise to send a monster when I get home. These last two weeks have been full of miracles and some good times, so ima just give a lightning round! LIGHTNING ROUND We had 2 of the best lunches of my mission last week. The first was a churrasco with some members from the south that was delicious. The second was humongous beef filets with mashed potatoes. May 8, 2023: Week of exchanges

  Hello my friends! How're you all doing??? Hope you're week cause I'm doing great here in Barreto, RJ! This week we had some great times and saw some awesome miracles that I want to talk about! So let's just get right into the email and talk! PDAY On the Mish whenever I can I like to do hikes for pday. 10/10 would recommend it has been awesome! Thus week we did one called pedra do elefante! And it was super awesome yall should take the time to do it EXCHANGE #1 My first exchange was with Elder Brito we spent 2 days getting on the grind together and it was fun! We found a ton of people, taught some great lessons and taught English class too! The most memorable moment was when we gave a lesson to a group of people about keeping the sabbath day holy! We had one friend of ours leave the room saying under his breath "this has to be the true church there's no other option" and it was really really cool. Apr 24, 2023: Scavenger Hunt 2.0

 So there's a list of names and addresses of members in our ward. But this list is at least 5-10 years old. Our bishop was a bit worried about this, so we offered to help a little bit! And let's just say it's been probably the biggest scavenger Hunt of my life hahahaha.  With a little map and a ton of effort we've been able to find and teach many many inactive members. It has been really awesome not going to lie. We have lots and lots of desire to help these people return to activity in the church and help them continue along the covenant path! Anyway let's highlight some of the best moments! EXCHANGESSS This week I has the opportunity to stay with a brand new missionary Elder de Jesus! It was way fun haha. We actually got our phone stolen on that day too so that was an interesting story, but after that we just went out with paper and pencil and went finding.
