Feb 15, 2023: And the rain came a tumbling down

 Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday! And the last one too! Next week we switch back to Monday pdays so that'll be fun! This Last week has been pretty dang interesting, some different experiences every day! But I'll just hop right into it!


THE RAIN
This week we've gotten a LOT of rain. Like a lot. Like out of the 7 days in the week, the streets were flooded 3 of them, on last Tuesday, on Saturday, and on Monday. That has meant some fun nights on the streets getting absolutely soaked! On Monday it was like a movie scene. Me and my comp on the streets alone and the heavens just opening and dumping gallons of water on our heads. Not gonna lie it was pretty lit haha. Also it's meant a bit of service for us with some of the families in our ward having their houses flooded and other cleanup. But all in all, it's been alright for us. And it's meant some cool lightning shows at night. So it's all good.

THE EXCHANGE

This week I did an exchange in Mutuá, one of the areas here in my district. It was fun cause it was with my old DL Elder de Jesus
We had a baptismal interview with their friend Paulo, which was super great. He is such a nice guy and his baptism on Sunday was very awesome. But also with this, we had a normal day of work, and in the evening we had a ward activity, which was basically a giant garage sale. It was pretty awesome tbh. I ended up walking out of there with a fire hat and some ties. I only walked away from some 
Portugese books cause I am unable to read them right now which was sad. But it was worth it. Also when we were supposed to end the exchange, the streets flooded again so I ended up having to stay the night until the waters calmed down.

INACTIVE MEMBERS
This week we've put a ton of effort in our less active families. It has really showed a lot of fruit, and we are seeing a big transformation in our ward as a result. We are seeing many families returning to church and having good experiences, just based on our willingness to invite and to love them. It really has been a super neat experience and I hope to be able to continue this trend.

SPIRITUAL THOUGHT
This week I wanted to talk just a second about the spiritual impact of music. There have been a few moments this week where I feel a bit tired or overwhelmed. But at times I take a minute to listen to or sing a hymn. Every time, it helps me. The words that are there to remind us of the principles and ordinances of the gospel, and to let us worship our God through song. I love music and I know it helps my spirit to stay healthy and strong. I encourage you all to find good music that can help heal your spirit. Take some time to listen to and ponder the words. It will help you!

  Hello friends and family happy Monday! I hope you're all doing super well. Sorry about not getting an email out last week, but I'll try to recapitulate what I missed. Also a fair warning that the emails might be a bit shorter than they have been but I promise to send a monster when I get home. The first was a churrasco with some members from the south that was delicious. The second was humongous beef filets with mashed potatoes. May 8, 2023: Week of exchanges

  Hello my friends! How're you all doing??? Hope you're week cause I'm doing great here in Barreto, RJ! This week we had some great times and saw some awesome miracles that I want to talk about! So let's just get right into the email and talk! PDAY On the Mish whenever I can I like to do hikes for pday. 10/10 would recommend it has been awesome! Thus week we did one called pedra do elefante! And it was super awesome yall should take the time to do it EXCHANGE #1 My first exchange was with Elder Brito we spent 2 days getting on the grind together and it was fun! We found a ton of people, taught some great lessons and taught English class too! The most memorable moment was when we gave a lesson to a group of people about keeping the sabbath day holy! We had one friend of ours leave the room saying under his breath "this has to be the true church there's no other option" and it was really really cool. Apr 24, 2023: Scavenger Hunt 2.0

 So there's a list of names and addresses of members in our ward. But this list is at least 5-10 years old. Our bishop was a bit worried about this, so we offered to help a little bit! And let's just say it's been probably the biggest scavenger Hunt of my life hahahaha.  With a little map and a ton of effort we've been able to find and teach many many inactive members. It has been really awesome not going to lie. We have lots and lots of desire to help these people return to activity in the church and help them continue along the covenant path! Anyway let's highlight some of the best moments! EXCHANGESSS This week I has the opportunity to stay with a brand new missionary Elder de Jesus! It was way fun haha. We actually got our phone stolen on that day too so that was an interesting story, but after that we just went out with paper and pencil and went finding.
