Feb 16, 2022: Feels Like Home

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday! I hope you're all doing well! It's been a heck of a week here in Macabú! Way way different than Caxias, but I am loving it here! The people are very friendly and the work is a blast!! Also were surrounded by mountains that feels very reminiscent of Utah haha  But anyways here we go!

COMPS

So I wanted to wait until this week to introduce my comps cause last week I didn't know them very well yet! First is Elder Munafo. He's from Colorado and this is his last transfer on the mission. He likes to lift weights and all things outdoors which is cool! Second is Elder Calazans. He's from North Brazil (City is called Natal) he's really chill and really funny. He has 6 months left on the mission. So I'm the youngest here by a good amount. But it's been awesome to work with them so far and I'm excited for the rest of the transfer!

STORIES

We had some fun stories this week that I just wanted to give some highlights
On my first day here we had some pizza with some investigators, and both of them spoke fluent English which was funny. We were just switching back and forth from English to Portuguese the whole time which was fun. Also the pizza was really good.

We went to the house of one lady who we are teaching and her husband was there too, and then they tried to make us a coffee but we had to tell them we can't drink coffee. But they were both really chill and we'll keep on working with them for sure.

We've gotten to know the members pretty well already just going to their houses to introduce ourselves, the branch here is pretty good! We're trying hard to strengthen the branch and reactivate members to get on the path to becoming a ward

Speaking of the branch our meetings are in an apartment that's been modified to become a church so that's pretty funny. Sometimes it's hard for people to find the building though.

I got a stomach thing that's been pretty rough on my body but I think I'm feeling a little bit better now so that's really good.

This week we've focused a lot on meeting new people which is good, but next week we're going to try to schedule lessons with just about all of them! I'm excited for that, I think my favorite thing to do is teach so that'll be way fun.

One of our friends works at a bakery so we go there sometimes to get honey bread that's really good.

I'm probably missing some but right now I can't remember so whatever

Anyways I'm super excited to be here and I am ready to see the work here start to go crazy! It's going to be great!

SPIRITUAL THOUGHT

My thought this week comes from the talk "Feed my Sheep" by Elder Holland
In the talk he talks about how Peter became the great apostle. It doesn't matter that he denied Christ 3 times. It doesn't matter that he cut off the ear of a soldier. It doesn't matter that he lost faith and began to sink. What matters the most was this encounter with the Savior. The Savior asked 3 times. "Do you love me?" Each time Peter said "Yes" and how did the Savior respond? "Feed My Sheep."
As Elder Holland said, this is the moment Peter became the great apostle. When he from the depth of his heart and soul said he loved the Savior more than anything else. And then he acted on it. He worked miracles. We can do the same. It only takes an instant to change a lifetime. I promise it's true.

Anyways! I love you all lots! I'm grateful for you all and your emails this week! Thanks for your prayers! Have a good week
