June 22, 2022: The 4 finding killers of Macabu

Hi everyone! Good afternoon here from Conceição de Macabu, Brazil. I figured I've got nothing better to do than write an email so here we go!


TITLE
The title this week was given by Sunday, when we were trying to find some new people. You see, there are 4 things that empty the streets here in macabu. Holidays, Weekends (everyone goes to their cabins on these breaks), cold and rain. And on Sunday, it just happened to be raining and cold (relatively, about 17 degrees Celsius), on the weekend that was the end to a 4 day holiday. So let's just say that despite our best efforts the finding did not go too well that day haha.

But other than that day it's been going pretty decent here! We've found lots of people, but none of them have been home for when we set the second appointment... :/ a little bit sad but okay.

THE NEWSPAPER MYSTERY
Idk if I told you guys the first time about this but when I arrived here in macabu about 5 months ago some dude put us in the newspaper. We knew that it was someone we had talked to but we didn't know who. So we tried to find out but couldn't find him. So this week were walking through a neighborhood for a second appointment that didn't happen, and we found this dude who told us "oh it was me who put you in the paper! Also I want to put you there again so send me a photo to use and a little script or something." So were about to go viral here in the city... again. If you've got a clever way we can invite people to learn using a few sentences in a newspaper, send me a message haha.

THE CHANGES KEEP COMING
This week in church we got new councilors in the branch presidency, and a new president of the Elders Quórum, so we've got a new president of the Quórum, new branch presidency totally, and new president of the Relief society, all in the last month. So we're going to have a Lott of coordination to do these next few weeks. But it's pretty awesome! We went tracting with the new Elders Quórum President and it was baller he's a great missionary so we learned some stuff!

SPIRITUAL STUFF
This week I gave a talked that focused on the scripture "and when you are converted, strengthen your brethren." It was a really cool thing to study about. Peter thought he was converted but he had a little bit longer to go. But when he finally made it, boy did he help his brethren! We also like Peter need to convert ourselves. And when we can do that, we will be able to help other people so much more! I promise it's worth it!

  Hello friends and family happy Monday! I hope you're all doing super well. Sorry about not getting an email out last week, but I'll try to recapitulate what I missed. Also a fair warning that the emails might be a bit shorter than they have been but I promise to send a monster when I get home. May 8, 2023: Week of exchanges

  Hello my friends! How're you all doing??? Hope you're week cause I'm doing great here in Barreto, RJ! This week we had some great times and saw some awesome miracles that I want to talk about! So let's just get right into the email and talk! PDAY On the Mish whenever I can I like to do hikes for pday. 10/10 would recommend it has been awesome! Thus week we did one called pedra do elefante! And it was super awesome yall should take the time to do it EXCHANGE #1 My first exchange was with Elder Brito we spent 2 days getting on the grind together and it was fun! We found a ton of people, taught some great lessons and taught English class too! The most memorable moment was when we gave a lesson to a group of people about keeping the sabbath day holy! We had one friend of ours leave the room saying under his breath "this has to be the true church there's no other option" and it was really really cool. Apr 24, 2023: Scavenger Hunt 2.0

 So there's a list of names and addresses of members in our ward. But this list is at least 5-10 years old. Our bishop was a bit worried about this, so we offered to help a little bit! And let's just say it's been probably the biggest scavenger Hunt of my life hahahaha.  With a little map and a ton of effort we've been able to find and teach many many inactive members. It has been really awesome not going to lie. We have lots and lots of desire to help these people return to activity in the church and help them continue along the covenant path! Anyway let's highlight some of the best moments! EXCHANGESSS This week I has the opportunity to stay with a brand new missionary Elder de Jesus! It was way fun haha. We actually got our phone stolen on that day too so that was an interesting story, but after that we just went out with paper and pencil and went finding.
