Mar 23, 2022: Meeting with an apostle!!! (POSTVIEW)

Hello everyone! Happy Wednesday and I hope you are all having a great week so far! This week will probably be a bit shorter, just cause it went by so fast and also everything else in the week was overshadowed by one of the best experiences of my mission so far!! So here we go!


EVERYTHING BEFORE

Pretty much everything before Saturday Elder Munfao just kinda said bye to all of the people here. Me and Elder Calazans got him a little present thing that was really fun to do. Also we had to leave Friday night to stay the night w 10 other Elders in a tiny apartment, so we'll just say nobody got a lot of sleep. And on Saturday morning we woke up at 1:45, and were on the bus at 2:45 to head to Rio! We picked up a ton of missionaries and headed off to the meeting!

ELDER SOARES

The meeting with Elder Soares was awesome! We had the opportunity to have basically the whole area presidency there, and a lot of 70s too, so that was pretty fun! I'll just dive right here into the spiritual thought cause I want to share some things I learned! There were a few talks before Elder and Sister Soares but I'll just focus on them to make it so this email doesn't go forever haha. 
In the talk by Sister Soares, she talked about becoming a new person through Christ and through the mission. She asked the question, how do I know if I'm a new person? She said when you have a change of attitude, you will know because you will not have a desire to do evil, OR your ability to evade these evil things will increase. She said can all chose to be better to make this change happen, and we need to start now.
I loved this talk cause really I have always had a desire to improve, and I know through this desire I can be a new person literally every day! We can always rely on Christ through it all!!
Elder Soares talked about 3 things, our calling, helping, and our inviting. He told us a bit about the process of a mission call and how there are a lot of levels of revelation happening. He also talked about how we don't know how much our calling will impact other people until the next life. With helping he talked about how we need to invite with love and then stay strong in our invitation and our faith. Finally in the inviting he talked about how we need to keep focus, stay dedicated and obey with exactness! It was an awesome talk!!

I was really glad to hear these words from the apostle and it was really just a great experience! We even all got to shake his hand afterwards, which was way cool too!

EVERYTHING AFTER

Honestly the rest of this week was kinda a blur. We taught a bit, found some people, but it was all just pretty chill. I still haven't recovered on sleep since that day haha but whatever. Also on Sunday we had basically a temple district conference with Elder Soares, so me and my comp got to watch that too on zoom. But I'll save that one for next week's spiritual though haha. But anyways that's about it from me yall!!

  Hello friends and family happy Monday! I hope you're all doing super well. Sorry about not getting an email out last week, but I'll try to recapitulate what I missed. Also a fair warning that the emails might be a bit shorter than they have been but I promise to send a monster when I get home. These last two weeks have been full of miracles and some good times, so ima just give a lightning round! LIGHTNING ROUND We had 2 of the best lunches of my mission last week. The first was a churrasco with some members from the south that was delicious. The second was humongous beef filets with mashed potatoes. May 8, 2023: Week of exchanges

  Hello my friends! How're you all doing??? Hope you're week cause I'm doing great here in Barreto, RJ! This week we had some great times and saw some awesome miracles that I want to talk about! So let's just get right into the email and talk! PDAY On the Mish whenever I can I like to do hikes for pday. 10/10 would recommend it has been awesome! Thus week we did one called pedra do elefante! And it was super awesome yall should take the time to do it EXCHANGE #1 My first exchange was with Elder Brito we spent 2 days getting on the grind together and it was fun! We found a ton of people, taught some great lessons and taught English class too! The most memorable moment was when we gave a lesson to a group of people about keeping the sabbath day holy! We had one friend of ours leave the room saying under his breath "this has to be the true church there's no other option" and it was really really cool. Apr 24, 2023: Scavenger Hunt 2.0

 So there's a list of names and addresses of members in our ward. But this list is at least 5-10 years old. Our bishop was a bit worried about this, so we offered to help a little bit! And let's just say it's been probably the biggest scavenger Hunt of my life hahahaha.  With a little map and a ton of effort we've been able to find and teach many many inactive members. It has been really awesome not going to lie. We have lots and lots of desire to help these people return to activity in the church and help them continue along the covenant path! Anyway let's highlight some of the best moments! EXCHANGESSS This week I has the opportunity to stay with a brand new missionary Elder de Jesus! It was way fun haha. We actually got our phone stolen on that day too so that was an interesting story, but after that we just went out with paper and pencil and went finding.
